FORT WORTH — Big 12 play begins Saturday for the TCU women’s team with a trip to Baylor for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
This could be the most important conference season for coach Raegan Pebley.
Much has already been said how Pebley completely remade the roster from last year, when the Frogs won only twice in conference play. She brought in six transfers to boost the roster, and the results have been up and down so far as Pebley tries to balance on the court rotations with off-the-court matters — handling three suspensions from the brawl with George Washington and dealing with family crisis which they had to navigate early in the season.
“The human side will always come first for me, just tending to hearts, souls and spirits of the players,” Pebley said. “Remembering they are women first and growing adults prior to being athletes. Luckily these are people that want to connect that way in helping all areas of their life grow.
“They want to win as much as we as coaches want to win, but as soon as a coach you put winning at the forefront of every conversation, everyone sees through that. That’s not my why. We want to win, I want to win, but that’s not going to be what we lead with.”
