Ask any TCU fan over the age of, oh, 15 and I’ll guarantee they remember where they were on that fateful December Sunday in 2014.
I was standing at the back of the sanctuary, at the church in Dallas where I served as youth minister. The ministers had all assumed our normal doorways for shaking hands and making small talk as the congregation filtered out after worship.
One older gentleman always sought me out to talk about TCU, and that day was no different.
He ambled up to me with a grimace on his face.
“You won’t believe it,” he said. “They screwed us. We’re sixth.”
We shared a brief moment of saying some not-so-nice things about the committee before shaking hands and going our separate ways.
Eight years later, TCU has a shot at redemption. While Frogs fans might fear a repeat experience, the differences between the two years should be significant enough to give people hope.
