Max Duggan has earned the first of what could be several awards for the TCU quarterback, as he was named the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award on Wednesday.

The award is presented annually to the upperclassmen quarterback in college football. Prior to winning the overall award, Duggan had been named Johnny Unitas Golden Arm top performer of the week three times this season.
Georgia’s Stetson Bennett IV, Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, and Oregon’s Bo Nix were the other finalists.
Duggan has exceeded expectations this year, finishing the regular season with 3,070 passing yard and 29 passing touchdowns to just three interceptions. Duggan also ran for 294 yards and five touchdowns.
Despite losing his starting job during fall camp to Chandler Morris, Duggan didn’t consider transferring. Instead he put down his head and worked. When Morris went down in the third quarter against Colorado, Duggan stepped in and led the Frogs to a victory.
After that, Duggan led the Frogs to 11 more.
Duggan is also a finalist for the Davey O’Brien award, given to the best quarterback in college football, and currently holds the third best odds to win the Heisman Trophy.
