For the third time in two days TCU has lost players to the transfer portal, as right-hander Gray Thomas intends to transfer. Thomas’ announcement comes on the heels of Garrison Berkley’s announcement Wednesday. You can see the full list of incoming and outgoing players here with our TCU Transfer Tracker.

Jake Kolkhorst, another righty, also added his name to the transfer portal Wednesday.

Thomas becomes the latest member of the 2022 team to enter the transfer portal, joining Berkley, Sam Thompson, Reed Spenrath, Connor Oliver and a slew of others. The freshman will have four years to play three at his new school.

Thomas didn’t see much time on the mound for the Frogs in 2022, making only seven appearances and none longer than an inning. He posted a 4.50 ERA over those four total innings, walking five and striking out five.

TCU continues to make changes to its roster, especially when it comes to potential relief pitching. The Frogs have added three pitchers from the portal since the end of the season in Cal’s Sam Stoutenborough, UNC Wilmington’s Hunter Hodges, and Nevada’s Kade Morris. While Morris might be in the mix for a rotation spot, Stoutenborough and Hodges both project to be bullpen arms for coach Kirk Saarloos, with Hodges having closer potential.

July 1 is the deadline for players to enter their name in the portal and have immediate eligibility, but while the transfer announcements might slow down, teams will be able to focus on what they need and who is in the portal to recruit.
