You might be aware that there is a fairly significant game this weekend, one featuring major postseason implications — for the Big 12 title, bowl season and potentially the College Football Playoff.

When TCU and Texas square off Saturday night in Austin — in front of God, College GameDay and the playoff committee — much will be on the line. For the Longhorns, a win all but guarantees a spot in the Big 12 championship game and an open path to a New Year’s Six bowl game. For the Horned Frogs, winning on the road as nearly a touchdown underdog would solidify their status in the top four of the playoff rankings and sew up their spot in Arlington.

Somehow, TCU still has something to prove, while the school that has been trying to prove that it’s back for more than a decade enters a win-win situation in a way. Win the game and knock off your rival, announcing yourself as the top dog in Texas in the process. Lose and folks will think better of TCU for beating you.

Must be nice to be Texas.

Another layer to the chaos is, of course, the addition of Gary Patterson in Burnt Orange. After being the straw that stirs the drink in Fort Worth for a quarter century, he’s now helping get Texas up to snuff as a special assistant to the head coach.

This one won’t be interesting at all.

To find out more about Texas, Quinn Ewers, Bijan Robinson and just want exactly Patterson is doing, we sat down with Gerald Goodridge of the Longhorn Pod, part of the Burnt Orange Nation podcast network. You can find some of his answers below, and be sure to check out the interview in its entirety on the Frogs Today YouTube channel.
