TCU set the recruiting trail ablaze Friday, landing their second commitment of the day and third in two days. Four-star cornerback Avery Helm has announced that he is going to transfer to the Horned Frogs.

Helm revealed his commitment just hours after four-star safety Jamel Johnson pledged to TCU.

The Missouri City native became the eighth defensive back to join the 2023 recruiting class for TCU. Helm spent the previous three seasons at Florida, but announced Dec. 6 he was entering the transfer portal.

Helm was also being recruited by Missouri and Utah, both of whom made in-home visits. TCU safeties coach Paul Gonzales also made an in-home visit with Helm, and his relationship paid off for the Frogs.

Standing at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, Helm was rated as the No. 24 cornerback in the 2019 class and the No. 48 player in the state of Texas.

TCU now has three cornerbacks for the 2023 class. Channing Canada, the No. 1 JUCO cornerback in the nation, committed Thursday, while Vernon Glover Jr. is a three-star high school recruit in the class.

The Frogs also have five commits at safety, a signal that Gonzales and cornerbacks coach Carlton Buckels have been doing incredible work this recruiting cycle.
