The TCU men’s basketball team went through the wringer last year with the NCAA transfer portal, losing nine players and bringing in eight.
Coach Jamie Dixon found the right combination, as the Horned Frogs won their first NCAA Tournament game in 35 years and narrowly missed advancing to the Sweet 16.
One of the three holdovers from 2020-21 was Eddie Lampkin Jr., who turned himself into an impact player this season. He became an overnight star Sunday in the 85-80 overtime loss to Arizona, posting career-highs with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Other college coaches no doubt took notice of the performance and “Eddie Energy,” and perhaps might come calling to woo him into the transfer portal.
They might as well not even bother.
Lampkin told Brian Estridge on Wednesday that he will be returning next season.
“Most definitely,” Lampkin said. “Most definite. Most definite. Why not?”
Is @EddieLampkin25 coming back to #TCU next year? Let him tell you. This week’s episode of Frogs Today TV featuring Eddie, @kirk_saarloos, @joe_gillespi3, @colinboddicker, and @maggieahale behind the news desk drops this Friday at 5pm. pic.twitter.com/uquWQgNj1T
