TCU is squarely in the mix for Casan Evans, an elite recruit for the class of 2024. The Houston native is rated by Prep Baseball Report as the No. 1 player in the state of Texas, and the No. 4 overall recruit for the class of 2024. Perfect Game is almost as high on Evans, rating him as the No. 4 player in Texas an No. 38 overall.

Evans was on campus over TCU-Oklahoma weekend for an official visit, as he works to figure out his next move after high school.

“I love it here, I love the small school feeling.” Evans said. “Just being here and being around friends that I’ve never met before, and just being able to interact with them. I really do think that this is a school that I could be here in the future.”

Of course, for Evans, the future could hold a lot of different options. At his level, professional baseball could come calling sooner rather than later.

Perfect Game describes Evans as a “high level two-way prospect”, whose fastball tops out at 94 mph. Evans picked up pitching when he was 11, but he’s been a middle infielder for much longer. His barrel skills set him apart, as does his athleticism.

The Frogs are coming off of back-to-back Big 12 Championships, winning the conference tournament in 2021 and the regular season title in 2022. Adding an elite talent like Evans would cap off an already stellar 2024 class of commits.

TCU currently has 16 players committed to the 2024 class, which rates as the 7th best recruiting class for 2024.
